Welcome to Westbridge Digital. Westbridge develops digital solutions for businesses and organisations, using software, data and emerging technologies to solve real-world problems.
You've joined our Development and Data team as a Junior Digital Developer. Over the coming weeks, you'll develop the technical and professional skills needed to work on real digital projects.
You'll work alongside people with different responsibilities, including software developers, data analysts and project managers. You'll also need to understand what our clients need and communicate your ideas effectively.
Your work won't just involve writing code. You'll research problems, plan solutions, use Python and developer tools, work with data, test your work and make improvements based on evidence and feedback.
You'll also investigate how data and machine learning can be used within modern software projects, and consider when these technologies are useful, responsible and appropriate.
Once you've developed the foundations, Westbridge will give you responsibility for a digital project. You'll take it from the initial client brief through research, design, development and testing to its final presentation.
By the end of the programme, you'll have built a portfolio of evidence and developed the programming foundations you'll need for your next step into Python and Django web development.

More than writing code
Software development is not just typing instructions into a computer. A developer needs to understand a problem, ask questions, research possible approaches, plan a solution, write and test code, communicate with other people, respond to feedback and document what has been produced.
